The R67 between Makhanda (formerly Grahamstown) and Port Alfred has been closed due to service delivery protests.
Eastern Cape police indicated earlier this morning that the route had been closed, urging motorists to use the Kenton/Salem road instead.
Emergency vehicles and the police are on the scene.
Police are also being kept busy in King William’s Town with fires made in the CBD and electricity boxes being set alight during the night. The protest is believed to involve municipal workers.
