Qachasnek police were expecting to be busy doing routine patrols as part of #SafetyFridays at Khoapha junction but nothing could have prepared them for the recovery of a 1.9m long African Boer snake and a Nile crocodile today.
The find occurred while members were busy with during a vehicle stop-and-search which began early today at 5am to ensure safety of the public and their property on the roads, Captain Khaya Tonjeni said.
The 39-year-old male driver of the sedan vehicle and two male passengers aged between 27 and 39 were arrested in connection with illegal possession of reptiles. The suspects are believed to have been travelling from Limpopo.
The suspects were charged with unlawful possession of endangered species and are expected to appear in the Maluti Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
