Protest action continues in Stutterheim despite indications by Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Fikile Xasa that a forensic investigation was set to start into the affairs of the embattled Amahlathi municipality.
To date, the municipal offices have been set alight and destroyed while rubbish litters the town’s streets. The robots at the intersection in town, as part of the busy N6, have also been damaged.
Protest action started earlier today again with stones allegedly thrown at vehicles. Vehicles were also prevented from passing through the town. Shops have been closed down.
Motorists travelling in the area are advised to avoid passing through the town if possible. Further details will be made available when possible.
