Three more held in Stutterheim unrest

Three more suspects have been taken into custody following widespread unrest in Stutterheim.

Six suspects were arrested last week and two earlier this week.

The municipal buildings have been gutted and infrastructure damaged.

Stutterheim SPCA under attack

Protests are believed to be related to dissatisfaction with the Amahlathi Municipality.

Police spokesman Captain Siphokazi Mawisa said three suspects were arrested for public violence yesterday after allegedly starting a fire in Hill Street in the town. Three tyres that had been set alight were removed by the olice.

The suspects, aged between 27 and 37, will appear in the Stutterheim Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
