Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality spokesperson Gcobani Msindwana has confirmed that a vandalised transformer at the Western substation has run out of oil due to a leakage, as a result some parts of Komani are without electricity.
“The level of oil is too low causing the transformer to shut down. Our electricians are currently on site to remedy the situation.” said Msindwana
The areas had experienced power outage last week due to infrastructure vandalism and copper theft. Msindwana indicated that they were suspecting sabotage as the transformer was recently installed. Full story in The Rep on Friday
