Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) handed over a new, furnished house with groceries, to a destitute family in Cala, as part of Mandela Day on Thursday. The family was identified by a local ward councillor during a routine door-to-door campaign.
The district municipality also handed over garden materials to Jongikhudu Agricultural Cooperative while a water tank and trees were planted in Khiwa Little Star Pre School.
Lumanyano Service Centre for Older Persons in Khowa was also remembered with a gift of cleaning materials and garden tools on the day.
