The gender-based violence (GBV) steering committee of the Eastern Cape is convening its induction and planning session at the International Convention Centre, East London today.

The committee was introduced by premier Oscar Mabuyane during the 16 Days of Activism recently, to address gender-based violence in the province.

Social development MEC, Siphokazi Lusithi, who is heading the team said: “After today’s session we will come up with a minimum plan and programmes for the next 100 days, to ensure a rapid response in dealing with the issues of GBV in our province.”

The team will be working closely with GBV structures, social influencers and key stakeholders to bring an effective solution in communities.
