A second case of the covid-19 virus has now been confirmed in South Africa.
The patient is a 39-year-old woman from Gauteng, who, according to a statement issued by the minister of health, Zwelini Mkhize, had been in direct contact with the first patient.
According to the statement, the woman was also one of the 10 people who had recently traveled to Italy and has also been living in self isolation until she tested positive.
She was admitted to hospital in Gauteng.
“All those who came to South Africa are currently being tested.
“We are now following all the protocols that we have already publicly announced.
“We also wish to announce to the public that our embassy (in South Korea) has advised that a 39 year old male South African who works in Daegu, has also positive for the covid-19. He was due to return to South Africa and has since remained in South Korea, ” the statement also read.
