Former Rep correspondent for the Van area, Denzil McCaskill, is seriously ill and has been told he urgently needs a bone marrow transplant.
McCaskill, who is in his late 40s, taught for a number of years at Maria Louw High School and has recently been at Olivet College. The medical aid scheme will not cover all his expenses, nor for travelling or accommodation costs for his wife.
Therefore the community plans to raise funds to help the family with these costs. A wine and dine will take place on Saturday, March 20 at the Boundary at R150 per couple.
Fransina at Boundary will prepare the meal, the band Soul 2 Soul will perform free of charge and Val’s Hire will do the décor without charge, but support is needed in the farm of attendance, contributions towards the ingredients for the meal (in cash or kind) and donations of wine and water for the tables.
In addition there will be a car wash at Boundary every Saturday morning during March and on March 28 there will be an Over 30s evening at Boundary.
With any queries, contact Yolande at 045-839 2008.
Let us all do our bit to give Denzil and his family a helping hand.
