The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality could not guarantee that Komani will not have power outages moving forward, citing ageing infrastructure.
The town experienced power cuts in the early hours of Monday and Tuesday mornings due to a cable fault.
EMLM spokesperson, Lonwabo Kowa said: “It is unfortunate that residents and businesses experienced outages during lockdown. It was not a planned outage but rather an unexpected fault.
“The fault occurred for two consecutive days with Madeira Park and Amberdale the worst hit areas. Our technicians have thus far managed to resolve these faults. The municipality has no planned outages during lockdown and we cannot guarantee that there will be no faults as our infrastructure is old and faults are rife. While this is the case our electricity department is fully functional and ready to respond to any problems.”
