Transport minister Fikile Mbalula has walked back suggestions that taxis can carry passengers at full capacity this lockdown period.
On Wednesday, Mbalula had reached an agreement with taxi owners after the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) had threatened a total shutdown over passenger numbers.
This morning the minister declared that taxis can only carry up to 70% capacity, even if passengers are wearing masks.
Queenstown Uncedo Service Taxi Association has bemoaned the government’s constant changing of the rules for ferrying passengers.
