An eminent member of the ANC Chris Hani regional executive and CHDM councillor was arrested in Cala for allegedly drinking and driving, and in possession of the now-banned alcoholic beverages on Friday.
The DispatchLIVE reported (Eastern Cape ANC leader arrested for drunken driving, April 17) that the 39 year-old man was traveling towards Cala when he came across police who were manning a roadblock.
According to a police report seen by The Rep, the party leader tried to escape, when a speed chase ensued and was subsequently apprehended in Ngcobo. Full story in The Rep on Friday.
