THE newly elected Interact board for 2016/2017 was announced at Girls’ High School at a social gathering hosted by the current board. Congratulations to Amahle Ciliwe who was elected as president and Lindelwe Hoho as vice-president. The board consists of Carmen McEwan, Yanga Malotana, Yanga Klaas, Claudette Phillips, Likho Mhlwana, Unam Balincwadi, Nangamso Mafanya, Sililitha Gqagqa and Sarah Jacob.

THE Girls’ High School SCA held an induction dinner at the OQA Centre to congratulate the 2017 committee of Sazikazi Mbalo (head), Lithe-Thaa Tembani (secretary), Amahle Ciliwe, Joyce Ejumu, Kyra Isaacs, Mandisa Mtola and Zenande Mbontsi.

Congratulations to the following pupils who wrote the SAIPA National Accounting Olympiad second-round exam: Lethabo Seoka, Sinazo Jokweni, Dhrishya Thomas and Mbasa Gosa.

THE theme for SCA Week was “New Era”. The girls started off the week with an amazing and spiritually uplifting assembly. After that came the cake sale as well as daily prayer meetings.

IVIWE Malotana (GHS) together with Qiqa Gqobo and Andrew Li (Queen’s College) represented the Amathole branch at the SAICE national bridge-building competition in Pretoria.

At this tournament, where the bridges have to be broken to determine a winner, the winning bridge held 200kg (Brackenfell High School). The GHS/QC team came 10th out of 16 teams with their bridge managing a load of 91kg.

The team, accompanied by Esle Steyn, learnt a lot and thank the sponsors for a great time.

THE 2016 matrics bade farewell to GHS at their 40-days function recently.
