STUTTERHEIM – On Saturday the golfers took part in the annual Beefer competition. The format was a four-ball alliance.Winners of the Meyers Motors Floating Trophy were Dennis Jones, MJ van de Vyver, Vaughn Bursey and Ronnie Eb on 107 points.
The runners-up on 106 were Pater Hartley, Brandon Hartley, Reece Daniel and Ernst du Plessis.
In third place were Phillip Koch, Mike Lloyd, Stephen de Ridder and Corne Krige on 103, followed by Roy Paxton, Ian Paxton and Sarel Pretorius on 101 points. Basie Deysel, Krish Naidoo, Gavin de Lange and Werner Wearing on 100 were fifth followed by Martin Flanegan, AJ Robb, Nicky Flanegan and Gordon Gobey on 98 in sixth place. In seventh place on 96 were Francois Sparks, Andries Greeff, Buck King and J Cilliers. Nearest the pin on the 3rd/12th was Richard Pretorius and on the 9th/18th it was AJ Robb.
PARKRUN: On October 8, 50 athletes completed Event #102 in overcast conditions. Fantastic times for the first men home, thanks to a couple of young visitors from East London who pushed the regulars and also managed to set themselves a new PB each. Congratulations to Amy Schwartz on completing her 10th parkrun.On Saturday, 45 athletes completed Event #103 in warm, dry conditions. Mark Isenberg from East London chose Stutterheim parkrun to complete his 50th parkrun. There were several other visitors from East London, including Mark’s wife and sons, as well as Yvonne Miles from Cathcart. Next week will see Johnny Naude complete his 100th Stutterheim parkrun – so loyal, he’s never done any other parkrun besides his home run!
On November 5, Stutterheim parkrun will celebrate their second birthday, so diarise the date and come and join in the fun.
NUMEROUS Stutterheim children have been appointed prefects at the various schools they attend.
At Stirling High School in East London, Nicholas Holm (head boy), Roger Flanegan, and Stephanie Miles are school prefects while Stassi de Agrela is head boy of the hostel, Stephanie Miles deputy head girl of the hostel and Bradley Feather-stone a hostel prefect. At Winterberg in Fort Beaufort, Morgan Potter has been made head boy and head of hostel while Robert Miles is both a school prefect and hostel prefect.
