THE Komani police have opened seven cases of theft under false pretences since last week.
Spokeswoman captain Namhla Mdleleni said this week that people were being conned into leaving their possessions with a person who claimed to be able to get goods cheaply from stores.
“The shoppers are asked to go to the shop to identify what they want but they must leave their belongings with the person. When the shopper returns, the person is gone.”
Mdleleni also warned people not to leave their belongings inside vehicles where these could be seen as this resulted in break-ins.
She asked drivers to ensure their car doors were locked before leaving as jamming devices were still being used to gain access to vehicles. – Rep reporter
