Young poet chases her dream

Date:

CACADU rising star, Andisiwe also known as “Andy the Poet yaMamfene” Ntintelo, 21, is an aspiring poet striving to reach the level of renowned South African poets Lebo Mashile and Mzwakhwe Mbuli.

“I fell in love with poetry when I was12 or 13 years old. My very first performance was back in high school, Indwe Secondary School. My poems are generally about love and life experiences that I have encountered performing with the Queens of Jazz; Rhythm Queen, Musa Ndonga and Wele. At Naleding in Komani was my best highlight so far. While they were singing, I was performing my poetry. My dream of being a poet is inspired by a local motivational speaker, Vuyisani Hans, a well known poet and author Mzukisi Silandela and also the late internationally renowned poet Maya Angelou,” said Ntintelo.

Ntintelo said she was currently busy with something with another local poet, Mbulelo Mapolisa, that will benefit the community of Komani.

For a short period last year, Ntintelo was a radio presenter at Lukhanji fm with Aphiwe Sishuba, hosting a radio show called Mid-Morning Motivation from 9am-12pm. The Silulo student performs at weddings, funerals and any event that she is invited to. The latest performance was at the MotivateZA, when she was invited by Vuyisani Hans.

“There is a mantra I live by every day. It is “All your hopes, dreams, goals and aspirations are amenable to hard work.” That’s my favourite quote. It keeps me going and pushes me to work hard in achieving my goals, but the most important thing I do before everything is pray,” said Ntintelo.
