THE Cricket Easter games will be played at the Dumpy Adams Stadium in Komani from Saturday.
The games, which will end on Monday, will start at 9am.
Four teams will be participating: Warriors, Sisonke Dalamba, Walter Sisulu University and Komani Royals.
“There are not going to be any prizes – this tournament serves as preparation for the next season in August,” said Sisonke Dalamba chairman Muntu Williams.
“We are trying to revive cricket and encourage young people to stay away from drugs and to ensure a healthy lifestyle. We also want to develop teams in Komani for the internal league” said coordinator of the Chris Hani cricket association, Viwe Yawa.
Yawa said their vision after this tournament was to be able to play against other teams from other regions, and also to play in the mayor’s cup tournament.
Pupils will be able to join and play in the teams during the school holidays.
Warriors’ strength lies in their batsmen who have played on provincial level with Nathan Roux and Asemahle Mapolisa, with Liyema Mgwigwi as their key bowler, lining up to face he charge.
Sisonke Dalamba will focus on big hitters like Nkosomzi Moss-Mbanga and Siviwe Ngoqo.
