THE King William’s Town police have arrested a 36-year-old man on charges of robbery and for allegedly being in possession of copper wire valued at R18,5-million.
Police spokesman Captain Nkosikho Mzuku said the suspect and his accomplices allegedly robbed the King William’s Town Eskom depot at gun point at about 11pm on Wednesday. The other four suspects fled the scene and remain at large. More arrests are imminent.
Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Liziwe Ntshinga commended the members for the arrest and quick response. “Our enhanced police visibility assisted us in arrest of the perpetrators. Commanders must ensure that we keep members on duty and on patrol in areas where crime is happening. Let us continue to eliminate any space for such incidents.”
