Breakthrough in McBride murder case

POLICE have made a breakthrough in a McBride murder case after they arrested two suspects, one of whom is related to the deceased, recently in Welkom in the Free State province.

Police spokeswoman Namhla Mdleleni said the two suspects were aged between 24 and 26 years old. Mdleleni said a case of murder was opened after Xolani Mahlinza, 35, was found dead in his house in McBride, Whittlesea. She said his Toyota Avanza had also been missing. It was not clear whether the Avanza had been found or not.

“Following a police investigation the two suspects were arrested in Welkom. They appeared in the Komani yesterday. One of the suspects is related to the deceased. The case has been postponed to May 16 for a formal bail application,” Mdleleni said. The suspects cannot be named as they have not pleaded.
