SASSA in registration outreach in Cacadu

The South Africa Social Security Agency (Sassa) will host the Integrated Community Registration Outreach Programme (ICROP) at Bengu Village in Cacadu (formerly Lady Frere) tomorrow.

ICROP is a ministerial campaign aimed at intensifying the fight against poverty. It is in line with the government priority to drastically reduce poverty, through among others, the provision of social assistance to the most impoverished communities.

In a statement today, Sassa said it was using the ICROPs to engage, interact with beneficiaries, educate and create awareness on issues that include money lending, deductions, fraudulent social grant applications, regulation 26A and its provisions, enrolled and unenrolled social grants recipients, SASSA card and other issues that affect social grants and government services.

“These outreaches are specifically geared at bringing all government services under one roof and closer to people in rural communities. ”

Several government departments and entities including Home Affairs, Health, Social Development, Education, SAPS, District and local Municipality, Road Accident Fund, Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA), and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) will be part of the programme which will take place in Bengu village from 9am.
