Overloading leads to load shedding as work on Komani power continues

The electricity is currently off in the area surrounding the public library in the CBD of Komani, but indications are that the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality hopes to restore power to the area by 8am.

In a communique by spokesman Gcobani Msindwana he indicated that while work on the Western substation was going well, loadshedding had to be implemented due to the increased loads as a result of the cold weather.

Two setbacks had also occurred – a cable fault at the casno mini and the hotel mini substations and a cable fault in the CBD.

It is expected that the Robinson Road area will be switched off from 2pm today.

The Madeira substation will be switched off from 8pm tonight.

The municipality has however warned that the times are provisional and may change due to faults and loading.
