THE Congress of the People (Cope) has called on its members and supporters to join a march to parliament on August 8 as a show of opposition to the plundering of state resources.

In a statement by the party today, it indicated that Cope was concerned that ANC MPs were “indulging” President Jacob Zuma and that he was being “shielded by the captured heads of the criminal justice system” despite recent scandals.
“Up to now Zuma has easily survived every motion of no confidence. Why is it different this time? The Chief Justice sharply pointed out that MPs were sworn to show faithfulness to the Republic. Their duty was first and foremost to South Africa. This was the second admonishment of ANC MPs by the Chief Justice. This time a number of ANC MPs have made public their view that Zuma must go. ”
As parliament would once again debate a motion of no confidence in the President, Cope was calling for support in the march “to show to the nation our determination to end the sustained and widespread plundering and looting of our resources by the Gupta’s and their associates under the protection and patronage of Zuma and the culpable indifference of ANC MPs.”
