Wrap up warm as snow, rain head for the EC

WRAP up in your winter woollies – it’s going to get cold out there.

The South African Weather Service has warned of cold and wet weather conditions moving into the Eastern Cape from this afternoon and dropping temperatures are already testifying to the validity of the forecast.

While severe weather warnings have been put in place, it has started raining in Plettenberg Bay with rain expected to spread eastwards.

The SA Weather Service has warned that such rain may vary from moderate to heavy and will affect both the coast and interior.

Widespread snow is expected along the escarpment and Winterberg and will spread toward the Southern Drakensberg.

Motorists travelling in the province have been warned to proceed with care as traffic disruptions, particularly over the passes are expected with hazardous icy road conditions being forecast.

Heavy rains is expected along the Wild Coast and parts of the interior with predictions of over 50mm which could result in flooding.

The weather is expected to start clearing from late tomorrow.
