Women’s soccer team at the provincial playoffs

THE SASOL Women’s Provincial League continued recently when Cacadu-based team, Cumakala Football Club, hosted the Red Roses Ladies’ Football Club in a tough match on October 21. Cumakala won the match 2-1 which put them in third position on the log.

The coach of Cumakala Wezo Ndiki said they were preparing for this weekend, as the provincial play-offs will take place at Jan Smuts Stadium in East London.

Golden City Football Club from Ilinge suffered yet another defeat by 2-0 against Mthatha City, while the Eastern Rangers bagged a 2-0 win against Amanqilo Birds at New Rest Stadium in Lusikisiki.

The top four teams from the inland stream will face the coastal stream teams in East London, with Cumakala going head-to-head with Sophakama ladies. The Ntabankulu-based team, Executive Ladies Football Club, will face Birmingham City, Amanqilo Birds will take on City Lads and Red Roses will play against Thunderbirds ladies.

The winning team in the play-offs will represent the Eastern Cape in the national Sasol League championships.
