Day of Reconciliation today

Date:

SOUTH Africa celebrates the Day of Reconciliation today.

The day aims to recognise the significance of the date, December 16 for both the Afrikaner (following the declaration of the Day of the Vow) and liberation struggle traditions as a unifying factor.

The day was first celebrated as a public holiday in 1995.
