Qoboshiyane set to visit Bengu Agriculture High School

As part of the provincial government’s back to school programme,
Eastern Cape Rural Development and Agrarian Reform (DRDAR) MEC Mlibo
Qoboshiyane will visit Bengu Agriculture high school, one of the
province’s top agriculture schools, today.

The Qutubeni, Cacadu-based school sells 120 pigs a year, 500
chickens monthly, produces spinach, beetroot, green pepper, onions,
tomatoes and butternut sold to local communities, Boxer and Spar
stores.

Established in 2013, Bengu Agriculture School recorded 82.23% matric
pass rate, provides agriculture advice and training helping local
farmers with basic agriculture production tips.

During his visit to the school, MEC Qoboshiyane will visit the
school’s farm, interact with learners, teachers, handover pig, chicken
feed and fertilizer to the school to help them with their farming.

At least 25 destitute children out of the 90 enrolled will receive
brand new school shoes from the department.

Qoboshiyane will be at the school from 8am.
