CHRIS Hani District Municipality (CHDM) handed over a tractor and implements worth R589 000 to the Gqaga Agricultural Project as part of Chris Hani Month at Gqaga village in Engcobo last Friday.
The tractor came with a 2 row planter and a 3 mould-board plough.
This was after the leadership of the municipality had made a commitment to support the project at its shearing shed launch in 2015.
CHDM started the dry land cropping programme in 2006 to improve crop production in the district.
The programme targets local municipalities with adequate rainfall where dry crop farming production is feasible by providing financial support.
