The Congress of the People (COPE) has said it will defend the Constitution from the ANC and EFF.
In a statement today, Cope said it had come as no surprise when ANC President, Cyril Ramaphosa, “exposing his party for the total disregard of the Constitution and its processes”, by announcing that the ANC would support the amendment of the constitution, to allow expropriation of land without compensation.
“The land expropriation hearings are still ongoing, but the ANC per their nature, trampled on the constitutional process, rendering the hearings as nothing but a rubber stamp process. As COPE, we will oppose all forms of unconstitutional processes, even if it means we lodge a Constitutional Court Action. ”
The party said the Constitution of the country was the Supreme Law and had to be respected, adhered to, protected and defended, “an Oath President Ramaphosa took as President of South Africa”and made a call on South Africans to join COPE in defense of the Constitution.
