Power update on Westbourne: transformer has leaks

The transformer for the Westbourne residential area is still being repaired in East London and will only be transported to Komani thereafter.

Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality spokesman Fundile Feketshana said upon the inspection of the transformer it was found that it had leaks. This would be receiving attention by Eskom tomorrow and once repaired, a service provider would transport the transformer to Komani.

The estimated time of travel is about two days with EMLM indicating that it was hoped that the Westbourne community would be back on the municipal grid on Wednesday.

“We plead with the community to be patient as we work around the clock to get the situation back to normal.”

Comment on when the Prince Alfred, Grey and Ebden Streets will have power again, is currently awaited.
