The heatwave that has affected water levels in reservoirs in Chris Hani Districts Municipality (CHDM), has left several areas in Komani without water for days. The areas affected are sections of Ezibeleni, Victoria Park, Komani Park, Livingstone, Haig Avenue and several others.
CHDM spokeswoman Thobeka Mqamelo indicated in a statement on Friday that water usage had risen alarmingly resulting in severe drop of water levels in reservoirs. “The raging heatwave has caused a strain in the district municipality water services. We are currently alternating our pumping to relieve all areas. The municipality regrets the inconvenience and urges consumers to bear with us.”
The heatwave is expected to continue until Tuesday.
