Six men have been arrested following a break in into a home in Vincent Heights, East London on Friday.
Police spokesman Captain Mluleki Mbi said the men robbed the family of jewellery, a gun and valuables after accosting the family, who was having dinner, at gunpoint at 7pm. Four men kicked the front door open and ordered the occupants to lie down, taking jewellery and cellphones.
Two demanded keys to the safe and took valuables. The family was locked in a bathroom as the men fled.
Members of the Mdantsane police followed up leads and arrested suspects at a lodge in Selborne.
The men allegedly used a Range Rover, hijacked in KwaZulu Natal recently. The vehicle was seized by the police.
The six will appear in the East London Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
