The Public Works MEC and MPL Pemmy Majodina visited Komani yesterday to look at the disposal of properties and debt owed to the EMLM, establishment of land forums and the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP).
Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) spokesperson Fundile Feketshana said, “ EMLM presented the state of domestic properties, proposals on the utilization of closed schools. “
The institutionalisation of EPWP along with its recruitment guidelines were also mentioned.
Feketshana said, “Emphasis was made to ensure that the two aforementioned institutions work together in an effort to find sustainable ways of providing basic services to the community while advocating for the payment of households, business and industries’ debt. A monitoring mechanism was also agreed upon so that these initiatives have the desirable impact on the ground.”
