Police have arrested a 22-year-old Ngcobo man following an armed robbery in Elliot on Thursday.
Police spokeswoman Captain Ursula Roelofse said three armed men entered a local chain store and held the staff up at gunpoint while filling three bags with items from the store.
They were however spotted by community members and who reported it to the police. Members proceeded to the scene and chased the suspects, managing to apprehend one.
A 9mm pistol was seized. The remaining two suspects dropped the bags and fled. All the items, including 67 cellphones, three bags, a suitcase and cash were recovered.
