The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality has indicated that it is experiencing problems at its Western substation with a part of the CBD and Madeira Park affected.
In addition, as part of its efforts to deal with overloading of the system, Scanlen Street and Bede have been switched off.
The power should be back on in Komani Street, Griffiths Street, Bells Road and Factory Road.
