An intruder raped a 74-year-old woman after breaking into her home at New Locality in Hofmeyr over the weekend.
Police spokesman Captain Lariane Jonker said the woman was alone when she heard noises in the house. Upon going to investigate, a man attacked and raped her. He fled through a bedroom window. No arrest has been made.
Acting Cluster Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Erasmus urged the community of Hofmeyr to come forward with any information that would assist the SAPS in their efforts to ensure that perpetrators against the vulnerable in the community were brought to justice.
