International Day of the elimination of violence against women and children – it’s today!

 

 

Today marks the International Day of the elimination of violence against women and children in what remains a human rights issue worldwide.

The day was first marked in Columbia in 1981 and in 1993, according to website www.checkiday.com the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women. In December 1999, the United Nations General Assembly designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
