SAPS initiates a campaign against domestic violence

Silvertown informal settlement community members came out in numbers to attend the domestic violence awareness campaign which was conducted by the local South African Police Services (SAPS) yesterday.

Police captain Namhla Mdleleni said domestic violence was rife and that the majority of such cases emerged from the area.

The cases are usually prevalent during social grant payment dates. The domestic violence coordinator sergeant Nontinti Tshemes educated the community about domestic violence along with its implications,” said Mdleleni.
