Shirley Jones Ndaba, wife of Komani doctor Lubabalo Ndaba, who was recently announced as one of Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa 2019 semifinalists has made it to the top 25 in the competition and will be contending for the coveted crown.
The announcement was made at a prestigious charity event at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on Friday. The event had the dual purpose of raising funds for the Women4Women Foundation.
Jones Ndaba who was involved in empowering young girls in various schools around the Chris Hani District with her End Girl Hate campaign said she was honoured to be one of the finalists.
“I have been afforded an opportunity to impact the lives of young girls and women particularly through the End Girl Hate Campaign. I am honoured to be part of the Women4Women foundation because it focuses on empowering girl children, giving them opportunities, if not a better life. My goal is to keep inspiring and influencing young girls. It is also to encourage and motivate them to want so much more for themselves, including educating them to know that women are strong and they overcome a lot of things. We are not limited by our background, upbringing and circumstances. It is my hope to also influence the boy child, teach him to respect the women in their lives and treat them like the queens and princesses that they truly are.”
The finalists are required to embark on a journey of fund-raising, networking and self development leading to the crowning event which will take place on November 8. The winner will become an ambassador for the organisation and its sponsors and will also get a chance to represent SA at the Mrs World pageant.
Jones Ndaba, who also walked away with the Influencer Award at the event, added that she will host a fund-raising event for the Women4Women foundation and dates will soon be confirmed. “I would also like to thank the community of Komani for their amazing support. I would appreciate their continued support in this journey.”
