Disaster relief organisation brings respite to drought-stricken Komani

Date:

With Komani residents still reeling from the effects of an unrelenting drought as rains continue to stay away, disaster relief organisation Gift of the Givers’ efforts have brought much-needed respite to the locals.

The Gift of the Givers truck (pictured above) was spotted delivering bottles of water to residents in Newvale and Aloevale on Tuesday this week.

Meanwhile, local residents are hopeful that Chris Hani District Municipality mayor Wongama Gela’s undertakings in recent times that October would the month when Komani water woes would come to an end, were not empty promises.

The much-needed relief to residents, according to Gela, would come as a result of the Xonxa Dam, which was set to pump water to the Berry Dam.
