Aspiring model and actress Neo Hlongwane of Komani who believes the sky is the limit has been selected to be part of the International Modelling and Talent Association (IMTA) event to be held in New York and is looking for funds to assist with the trip.
The 20-year-old who is doing her second year in human resources management at Walter Sisulu University said she participated in the International Art Talent Showcase at Silverstar Casino in Johannesburg. This took place in the presence of talent scout Joey Hunter and independent casting director at Tyler Perry Studios, Rhavynn Drummer, American songwriter Nate Butler and a previous The Voice contestant Blaze Johnson.
“Last year in September I auditioned for an arts talent showcase by Elsubie Verlinden. There were four categories I had to choose from which included dancing, singing, modelling and acting. I chose what I was most passionate about which was modelling and acting. I was chosen to participate in the international showcase in Krugersdorp. I was one of the fortunate contestants who received a call-back out of 400 participants to attend the event in New York. This trip means I will receive intensive training and great exposure,” said Hlongwane.
The Ezibeleni-born artist seeks financial assistance amounting to R70 000 which will cover her travelling expenses in July. “This is something I enjoy doing. The trip will provide an opportunity for me to be scouted by other agencies so I can come back and share my experience, proving that international is possible.”
