Komani Anglers were at the Wriggleswade Dam in Stutterheim on Saturday to see who could land the biggest fish in the first-ever Carp Classic.
The tournament was hosted by Komani’s Raw Cast Fishing Club joined by members from the Target Line East London Fishing Club and unaffiliated anglers.
The day started at 7am and anglers had to reel in both the biggest carp, which had a R1000 prize on its head and the heaviest bag which would take R500. Anglers under 12 could win R500 for the fish and R250 for the bag.
East London anglers owned the day, winning in all four categories.
Regardless of the tough outing Douw Kruger, chairman of Raw Cast, said they were looking forward to the next classic.
“The day was awesome. It was our first Carp Classic and we are happy with the number of people who participated. There was a lot of positive feedback and people are looking forward to the next one.
“A big thanks to Kelston Renault which made the day a success,” said Kruger.
