President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to make a national address on Sunday following a National Command Council meeting in which measures to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus are discussed.
The meeting will look at whether the strategies introduced to curb the spread of the virus had been effective and also discuss additional “economic relief measures” that might need to be taken.
In a series of tweets on Saturday, Presidential spokesperson, Khusela Diko said the President would not be announcing a national shutdown and slammed the spreading of fake news.
“Stop spreading fake news: The President is not announcing a national lockdown tonight. The National Command Council will meet in a scheduled meeting tomorrow to asses implementation of directives announced by the President last Sunday.
“The council will further consider recommendations on economic relief measures to mitigate against the impact of the #CoronavirusInSA. Thereafter the President will give an update to the nation..,” twitted Diko.
