Call to report selling of booze during lockdown

While alcohol has been declared a banned substance under the National Disaster Management Act during the 21 days of lockdown, a number of outlets have continued to sell booze.

Since Friday, police in Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) have conducted sting raids on outlets in Mlungisi, Tarkastad and Lesseyton village where alcohol was seized and confiscated.

EMLM spokesperson Lonwabo Kowa said people should continue to report illegal sellers.

“It is regrettable that there are liquor traders who have opted to open their businesses while the nation is standing together fighting against the deadly coronavirus. We urge all responsible citizens to continue reporting such people to law enforcement agencies,” said Kowa.

  1. im a resident of mohlakeng town ship in the westrand (GAUTENG)and i would like to report an illegal sale of alcohol sold near my house sold by a neighbour who does not have a legal licence of liquor trade can i please have assist prior this matter as i reported this matter to my local SAPS in Randfontein…
