A Chris Hani District Municipality councillor was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol at the weekend. This is the second time the newly appointed chief whip was arrested for the same offence.
Last year he was also in contravention of lockdown level five regulations, and fled the scene when the police attempted to apprehend him.
