5 SUSPECTED BUSINESS ROBBERS NABBED IN KOMANI

Five suspects were arrested in an intelligence driven operation that was conducted by members of SAPS from Amathole and Chris Hani Districts with the assistance from specialised units that include K9, Flying Squad and a private security company. The suspects we arrested for possession of stolen property, unlicensed firearms and ammunition in Komani.

SAPS captain Namhla Mdleleni said: “On Thursday, 01 February 2024, SAPS operationalised the intelligence information following business robberies in Butterworth and Ngqamakwe during the day on Thursday, 01 February 2024. The information was followed, and the suspicious vehicle, a Ford Figo, was spotted on route N6 traveling towards East London direction and was cornered and stopped.”

The suspects are between the ages of 22 and 35. They were arrested after they were found in possession of stolen items with a value of around R120 000, an undisclosed amount of money, two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.  “The five men are due to appear in the Komani Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 05 February 2024, on charges ranging from possession of stolen property to possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition (two counts) with a possibility of additional charges at the later stage of the investigation,” said Captain Mdleleni.
