Dordrecht gets more rain

Date:

The drought-stricken town of Dordrecht is rejoicing after more rain fell in the district.

According to sources in the town, 144 mm have fallen over the past few weeks. Water has started flowing into the Munnik and Anderson dams near the town.

The town has been facing a severe drought since last year with the dams and boreholes running dry. Residents have been dependent on deliveries of water carts, organised by the Chris Hani District Municipality, and donations from private individuals, farmers and businesses.
