ALL roads will lead to the Tarka Sports Club today for the big Pumpkin Festival in Tarkastad. In addition to the judging of the pumpkins, there will be lots of fun and entertainment for everyone – and it’s all in aid of various needy causes. The programme is:
10am: Off-road motorbike riders depart from the Tarka Sports Club on the 120km ride.
10:30am: Pumpkins for different categories arrive
10.30 – 1pm: Try your hand at archery.
10:30am: Draadkarretjie competition/ design etc.
11am: Fancy dress (all welcome)
11:15am: Drum majorettes.
11:15am: Veteran cars arrive, having driven through town
11:30am: Draadkarretjie race.
12 noon: Fun and game activities for children.
1pm: Raymond Mhlaba Secondary School choir.
2:30pm: Weigh-in of the giant pumpkin competition.
3pm: Lucky draw of the Guess the weight competition
3:15pm: Veteran cars and tractors parade around the grounds.
4pm: Tug-of-war begins
Steak evening with music for dancing.
Stalls: Hamburgers – steak, pumpkin and chicken rolls, spiral chips, scrap art, bottled foodstuffs, Berry Nice – jams etc. and down jackets, tea garden, pub, wors rolls, roosterkoek and salad rolls, Coke barrel, Winterberg sewing, beanies, buffs for Cansa, market table – cakes, cookies, jams, chutneys, biscuits, rusks, etc, sewing and knitting, fresh farm vegetables, succulents, mosaic goods, jumping castle, photography – families and in and around.
Plus pumpkin carving, steak lunches and evening meal, roses and shrubs, nursery – seedlings etc, Watermelon clothing.
