Hawkers warned to ‘cover meat’

VARIOUS government officials had joined Operation Fiela which was headed by the police in Komani recently, resulting in a warning to hawkers not to sell uncovered meat on the streets of the town.

Police spokesman Captain Namhla Mdleleni said the Departments of Health and Environmental Affairs had joined the police’s Operation Fiela programme with hawkers warned that meat should not be left out in the open on the street.

Mdleleni said the hawkers had complied with the instruction by the time of the end of the operation.
