KOMANI Community Policing Forum (CPF) chairman Andries Schlebusch received a service of excellence award at the annual service excellence awards for the South African Police Service at the Regent Hotel in East London on Friday.
Speaking about the award this week, Schlebusch said: “Service of excellence defines good performance, working together with the police through their communication and all their units including stakeholders and traffic and correctional services and the department of social development.”
The annual awards aim to recognise and honour police officials, reservists and public service employees along with CPF members, who excel and render an exceptional service to the community.
Schlebusch said the Komani police had compiled an annual report of the positive work done by the CPF this year. The report was then submitted to the SAPS Bhisho regional office for consideration for the awards.
The CPF’s work during the year included assisting in relocating a woman found living in a stormwater pipe, the back to school campaign sponsored by Strauss’s and Spargs SUPERSPAR and the initiation of a community forum to fight crime in Tambo village.
“This is a great achievement for the CPF and it is an honour to receive such recognition. This award makes me proud. I want to see the community of Komani supporting the CPF initiatives.
“Communities must work together as we are close to December and the crime rate will pick up.”
