#FlashbackFriday-Cricket club leaves an indelible mark

The Coronation Cricket Club was one of the few cricket clubs which dominated the then Queenstown black cricket scene during the mid 1950s. Coronation and Breakers were the only two black cricket clubs from Mlungisi at the time and when the two met, fans were guaranteed a stunning match.

The Rep reported (“Of days gone by…memories of the Coronation” September 28 2012) that the club was founded in 1955 in the dusty streets of Mlungisi by two cricket enthusiasts, Jen Ben-Mazwi and Tim Ntumbuka.
